Do what makes us happy

2020 has been quite challenging so far. Hope you are doing well amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Where the whole world became standstill for a while, a few things have come to us as lessons.
It taught us about the importance of love and life. It taught us how to prioritise self-care.

Talking about self-care, I’m a firm believer of practicing self-care and emphasizing more and more on wellness. It gives me a fresh vibe and a lot of positive energy in whatever I do. During the period of lockdown, I’m stuck in India where I’m originally from. I came back from Dubai at the very end of February because I somewhat felt there might just be a little traveling restriction for a while to stop the spreading of the Coronavirus and I might need to be with my family. I still thank myself for that gut feeling because as we all see, the traveling restriction continued longer than anyone of us expected. Hadn’t I been with my family, I sure would have missed a lovely time together and you never know I might have just gone crazy without them (haha).

Many of you who have been knowing me for years now – through blog or social media, know that my family is my top priority and I can’t stay without them for long. This is the reason I convert most of my travel related work or a small vacation to a family vacation altogether.

However, this lockdown and the subsequent quarantine period yet again put forth the importance of love, care and at the same time more self-love and self-care. We got a chance to reflect on our own lives, follow our passion, encourage ourselves to do what we really love to do and most importantly, do what makes us happy. I spent a lot of time researching on good food and active ingredients to keep the skin supple, glowing and young. But that was most definitely not the beginning of the journey.

I am not going to say that I hate myself or I feel really insecure about myself for my skin or this feature of mine or this body part of mine, but I definitely believe in making it better and perfect. I think that’s what caring is all about. I’m extremely sensitive about every aspect of my look and always try to ensure that while aiming to reach perfection, it must not go overboard or worse. That’s why I’m always skeptical about going to random centres and injecting something or going under the knife. I believe in keeping myself natural with that subtle enhancement that makes me look just perfect.

I have always tried to be honest to my followers in this journey of mine and whenever I got anything done – even when it was unnoticeable and subtle something (which is mostly what I do), I made sure I show it to my channel even then. I tried to give a clear idea about what changes it’s made & this time too, there would be no exception. So, here comes the moment of a big truth: yes, I have finally got the courage to go under the knife and all thanks to Dr. Onür whose work finally convinced me to do so. I have a very petite frame with a tiny waist and a slim build. There are definitely a lot of compliments and perks but there is a thing in the midst of it. Being petite means the boobs would be small too in general. The frustrating part of it was that the most of the lingerie stores didn’t have my bra size. So, I wanted to get a little enhancement to keep everything in proportion.

This thought of a little enhancement actually crossed my mind about 1.5 years back. But as you already know, I’m not somebody that would jump into getting any procedure done. I spend a lot of time researching on who’s the best in the business and I don’t mind traveling to the farthest part of the world to find the best person to make me reach that point of perfection.

So, after searching for quite a while, I found Dr. Onür who happened to live in Turkey. I saw he was doing amazing jobs and quite effortlessly. I got in touch with him on Instagram and after our first conversation, I realized how his work was so fabulous. He focuses a lot on what the patient needs and not just that, he also educates the patient about what a realistic expectation would be for him/ her. I was glad that I was on the same page as him and I was confident enough to book my first surgery under him after our first virtual consultation itself.

I don’t know about others, but it looked like a big step for someone like me who had never been hospitalized before in life. But I was told by Dr. Onür and his amazing assistant Büşra that the hospital that I would be admitted to for just a night would be more like a hotel stay. So, even a hospital phobic like me could just chill out without fear. Indeed, the atmosphere was really good and the staffs were super caring and friendly.

Büşra happens to be a very good PMU artist which has been such a plus. I easily got connected with her and asked whatever questions I had in my mind before undergoing the surgery. Now, I can’t wait to get my semi permanent eyebrows & lip tinting done by her next.

Anyway, so, when I reached Turkey, I visited Dr. Onür for my first ever physical appointment with him. The best part of Dr. Onür and his team was that they make you fully aware of the procedure, the recovery process, the Dos & Don’ts after the procedure to make the recovery easier and faster. Also, I found out that the secret behind the best results after the surgery conducted by Dr. Onür is his expertise and the right approach towards it.

Dr. Onür has the experience of cosmetic and aesthetic surgery for a wide time span of 15 years and he has handled many rather complicated ( reconstruction, corrective, combination which is multiple operations at one go) surgeries. He has handled mummy makeover to body reconstruction for men which needed multiple surgeries from liposuction to shape re-building at the same time. His client list is made of patients from across the globe – from USA, Europe, UAE to Australia. I can easily comprehend that because of the way he simplifies the procedure gives the patient an easy approach. His experienced hands keep the result as per expectation and makes the recovery really smooth. That’s why every patient of him would like to come back to him again if they need any other surgery and would recommend him to their known circle without doubt too.

Coming back to my post-op concerns, prior to my surgery, I was very clearly told by Dr. Onür that the pain would be there for the first few days after the surgery. But I was given courage by Dr. Onür and his team including Büşra and Sibel so beautifully that I never got bogged down and that made my recovery process really rapid.

Dr. Onür exactly knows about what he is doing and whenever I mentioned him about the horror stories that I read online, he just smiled and said that I could be rest assured that in a few days, I wouldn’t even feel I underwent a surgery. I was told that it takes 3-6 months for everything to be permanently settled but in my case, within just 6 weeks, I forgot that I underwent a surgery. The pain, stiffness and all the uneasiness was starting to go from the 2nd week itself and it was completely gone and the final result was clearly visible by that time.

The other thing that made me feel I have got in touch with a genius doctor is when I just underwent the surgery. I thought the area would be fully swelled, there would be tube and woah, there was nothing. All I felt was a heavy feeling as if I was carrying some weight on my chest. Yes, it was causing a little pain because of the increased weight, stiffness and stitches. I talked to a lot of my friends who underwent this procedure post my operation and I’m proud to say that it took me the least time to get rid of the pain killers … I guess it was 3 days. On the 4th day, I had to ask Dr. Onür if I should have any pain killer anymore and he, as usually in his simple approach told me that if only I feel pain at night. I had it on the 4th and 5th day before going to bed and that was just to be on the safer side. I didn’t want to wake up in the middle of the night due to a sudden pain.

Fast forward to coming home on the 5th day, everything started becoming easier. It took me about 2 weeks for the itchy feeling at the stitch area to be subsided and to overcome the uneasiness while getting up from bed in the morning. Initially, it felt like there was some weight which was placed on the top of my chest at the time of waking up in the morning. Thankfully, I decided to buy an activated charcoal memory foam wedge pillow (inclined pillow) to get the much needed support to make getting up from bed really easy. Also, I always used to sleep on my back for 6 weeks although Dr. Onür told me that I would never have to be so afraid of these small stuffs. He did the operation keeping in mind that all those things would not be able to bother me much. Now, this is why I find him superb and his work incredible.

I just completed 6 months a couple days back and I think my surgery is now fully settled (which I believe happened way before just like the way Dr. Onür mentioned) and I couldn’t feel better about the decision of opting for it. It’s about making the right choices. It doesn’t matter which procedure it is, if I choose the right doctor, it hardly bothers / affects my lifestyle in the long run and it hardly makes the recovery process really challenging. Now, the same is proved yet again.

As Dr. Onür has an extensive knowledge and a vast experience in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery, I didn’t waste the opportunity to discuss about everything under the sun related to plastic and aesthetic surgery. It’s great to enlighten myself about all things aesthetic and share the same with you if you are interested to enlighten yourself before undergoing a surgery or taking the call of having one. I hope this interview would be really helpful for all of you.
