There is a famous proverb ‘long hair, don’t care’. But of course we do care about it. We all love long hair. There’s nothing more beautiful than gorgeous long hair. But for that, we need to be very careful and cut a few problems like hair loss. Thankfully, there are a few foods for healthy hair which helps to stop hair fall and to grow hair faster in a natural way.

Hair fall is the primary reason against the growth of hair. We tend to cut our hair short when we lose hair. The first thing that needs to be stopped is hair fall. Hair fall is often caused by iron deficiency (if not said otherwise by doctors like hormonal changes / cyst development / fungal problem in scalp or any other disease). So if you don’t have any of these issues and your hair is thinning, you might be anaemic or facing iron deficiency. If you don’t want to get into the dosage of iron supplements (medicines), make sure you intake iron naturally through your regular diet. In the end, balancing things with regular food is way better than taking medicines under doctor supervision.

So if you observe that you are facing hair loss (losing more hair than usual) or your hair has stopped growing or growing very slowly, you may consider adding a few of these foods for healthy hair. Beans

Beans offer 3 to 7 mg of iron per cup. It’s easily available and can easily be mixed with other foods.

Soybeans

A cup of soybeans provide substantial quantity of minerals. Apart from iron, it contains other essential minerals like copper and manganese. It is high on protein amino acid and vitamins too which offer a good immunity system and help us fight against germs, bacteria, fungus and diseases too. It is really helpful to keep us healthy.

Brocolli

Brocolli offers iron, calcium and multiple vitamins (A,C,E) which helps in keeping good bone health and immunity system too.

Potatoes

Potatoes contain iron, carbohydrate and vitamin.

Sesame seeds

Sesame seeds are wonderful and one of the great sources of iron.

Sunflower seeds

Pumpkin seeds

A cup of pumpkin seeds consists of 2 mg iron and a cup of the kernels contain a significant amount of 10 mg.

Lentils

One cup of cooked lentils are rich in iron. It contains good quantity with fiber which helps in preventing constipation. It helps in controlling blood sugar and cholesterol too.

Almonds

Almonds contain fair quantity of iron. Apart from that, it has protein and vitamin E too.

Dried Apricots

Dried apricots are a huge source of iron and has significant nutritional value.

Unripe Bananas

Unripe green bananas are a great source of iron and other minerals.

Cooked spinach

It is a valuable food supplement which contains iron. Additionally, it contains fiber, protein, calcium, Vitamin A and E too.

Chickpeas or black eyed peas

Rich and healthy source of iron. Contains good amount of protein and vitamin C respectively.

Fruits & vegetables

Many fruits, dry fruits and vegetables like bananas, apples, grapes, berries, lemons, plums, oranges, cashew nuts, dates, carrots contain iron.

For non-vegetarians

There are a few more source of iron in non-vegetarian diets:

Chicken

Chicken is rich in protein and iron.

Red Meat

Red meat has iron too but it is not advisable for high blood pressure /cholesterol patients.

Egg yolk

Egg yolk also has presence of iron content.

Liver: Organ meats like liver and giblets offers good amount of iron. Additionally, it contains minerals, vitamins and protein too. Beef and pork livers are enriched with iron but they are not good for cholesterol patients or pregnant women.

Oysters

While being a good source of iron, oysters supply zinc and vitamin B12 too.

Sea Fish

Sea fishes like canned salmon, tuna and cod contain iron.
